Always thought buying bottled water was a travel must, but seeing locals refill at public fountains in Rome made me feel silly for wasting cash. | Budget Travel Hacks - Hub Chatter
Oh man, I was the king of that in Rome! I must have bought like eight bottles before I finally noticed the little fountain by the Spanish Steps. Felt like I funded a fancy dinner for the water company with my tourist panic. The funniest part is the free stuff is literally the same water, just without the plastic.
Ever been that person who buys water at every corner only to find free taps everywhere... I did that in Paris and spent way too much on something that was basically free. Now I just carry a reusable bottle and feel a bit less silly about it all.
I get the reusable bottle thing but honestly... sometimes you just need cold water right then. Those little purchases add up but they're also part of the trip for me.
