Spent 6 weeks trying to make my $9 goodwill lamp look expensive, then a dog ate the cord
Turns out rewiring a thrifted brass lamp is a lot harder when you don't own a multimeter and the YouTube tutorial kept skipping the part about which screw is which, so after 42 days of zip ties and prayer it just became a fancy looking paperweight, anyone else ever gave up on a project and just stuck a plant on top?
...and honestly the plant on top is the only correct ending. I did the same thing with a vintage fan, three rewiring kits later I just zip tied the base to a bookshelf and now it holds my keys. If you ever want to give the lamp another shot, grab a cheap outlet tester from the hardware store, it takes the guesswork out of which wire goes where. But yeah, sometimes the plant is the real upgrade.
