Showerthought: the lady in the Wheaton thrift line called my $4 blazer "cheap" and I've been thinking about it since
Last Saturday I was in line at the St. Vincent de Paul on Roosevelt with a wool blazer I found for $4, and the woman behind me looked at the tag and went "oh, that's cheap." At first I thought she meant the price, but she meant the brand, and she said it like it was a bad thing. Here's my stance: a $4 blazer that fits right beats a $200 one that doesn't, and nobody at a wedding is checking your label while you're holding a plastic cup of punch. I wore it to my cousin's thing in Oak Park and got two compliments, and neither person asked where it came from. So I'll keep digging through the racks, but what's the line for you between a good cheap find and something you'd leave on the hanger?
