Watched a garage wall go from leaning to flat in 3 hours

Helped a buddy out in Hudson last summer. His 40 year old block wall was bowing out almost 3 inches from water pressure behind it. We drilled weep holes at the base and pumped in grout anchors from the top. By the time we finished lunch it was dead straight. Has anyone else fixed a bowing wall without having to tear it all down?

Drove past my neighbor's place last spring and saw him staring at his garage wall. He's not exactly handy so I stopped. That wall was bulging like a beer gut after a long weekend. I told him he could either spend two grand on a fix or ten grand on a new wall. He let me help him drill pilot holes and thread in some helical anchors. Three hours later we had that wall straighter than a preacher's spine. He was so happy he bought me a case of Coors. Now he brags about it every time someone drives by.
