That corner job at the old St. Mary's church near downtown went sideways fast

I was laying brick on the east side of the church last Tuesday when the whole corner started leaning after only three courses. The mortar was curing too slow because the temp dropped 15 degrees and I didn't check the forecast. Anyone else had a cold weather batch screw up a wall that quick?

Used to think any mortar would hold until a wall dropped on me last fall.

Did you have any accelerator in the mix or did you go straight Portland and sand? I've found that if you don't bump the cement content up by about 10 percent when it's below 50, the whole thing sets like cold butter. How thick were your joints running?

Is three courses really enough to call it a full screw up?
