My nephew asked why I always clean my trowel before lunch

I was showing him the ropes on a small patio job, and he saw me scrape it off and wipe it down. Explained that even a little dried mortar can mess up your edge and make the next lift sloppy. Do you guys have a specific routine for tool care during the day?

Ah geez, that's the kind of lesson you only learn once (or twice if you're stubborn like me). A quick scrape and wipe between lifts saves you from fighting the trowel all afternoon. Just keep a bucket of water nearby and you're golden.
