Lost a whole day's pay on a cheap mortar mixer that died after 3 hours

Honestly, I grabbed a no-name mixer from a discount tool place for $180 thinking I'd save some cash. Tbh, it started smoking on the third batch of mortar for a garden wall job. Had to shut down, send my laborer to rent a proper one, and lost about $400 in wages for the day waiting. The rental cost another $75 on top of that. Ngl, I should have just bought a decent used one from the start. Anyone got a solid brand for a small mixer that can handle daily use?

Man, that's a brutal way to learn that lesson. What kind of daily workload are you planning for this new mixer, like how many bags per day on average?

Honestly, it's less about the daily bag count and more about not having it quit mid-pour. Learned that the hard way last season when a motor gave out. Now I just want something that finishes the job without drama.

Ugh, that's the worst. Those cheap ones always seem to fail right when you need them most.
