Building a brick mailbox base and now it has a permanent list to starboard

I decided to get fancy and rebuild my mailbox post with bricks last Saturday. Mixed the mortar a bit too thin, I think, because the whole thing set with a slight but obvious lean. Every time I check the mail, it looks like it's trying to sail away from the curb. My neighbor asked if I was going for a nautical theme.

Could you have straightened it before the mortar dried, or was it already too far gone? Guess your mailbox just wanted a better view.

I love that "sailing away from the curb" image. I had a garden wall do the same thing because my mortar mix was off, and now it just has a permanent tilt. It's frustrating when things don't set straight, but it makes for a good story. Your neighbor's nautical joke is honestly the best part.
