A seagull decided my fresh mortar was a landing pad
I was finishing a patio job near the coast, laying the last few bricks. Mixed a perfect batch of mortar, smooth and ready to go. Turned my back for a minute to grab more bricks. Heard a splat and saw a seagull had landed right in the middle. The bird left footprints and a mess, sinking into the soft mortar. I had to scrape it all out and start over, wasting time and material. The homeowner found it so funny they pulled out their phone to get pictures. Now I always have a tarp ready for unexpected wildlife.

Brutal, having to redo all that work sucks.

Cover fresh mortar with a tarp immediately, because seagulls are shockingly fast. @rubyreed knows the pain, but a light mesh net over the area works even better. It turns a funny story into a prevented mess.
