That one drizzly morning when the greenhouse smelled better than any perfume
Last April I opened up the damp greenhouse at 6 AM and the whole place smelled like wet soil, geraniums, and old wood, all at once. It only lasted maybe ten minutes until the sun hit, but I've been chasing that scent ever since. Anybody else have a season or a specific day that just felt like the plants finally got everything right?
Honestly I think that whole wet soil and geraniums thing is overrated. Give me the smell of a greenhouse in August when it's hot and the tomatoes are just blasting everything with that green vine smell. Or even better, the musty dry hay smell in October when everything's dying back. That April thing is just nice because you've been trapped inside all winter, your nose is desperate for anything.
