Showerthought: My $45 'self-watering' pot murdered my favorite fern

I mean, the sensor was supposed to be smart, but it just kept drowning the poor thing for a week straight. Anyone know a reliable brand that actually works for ferns?

Oh man, that is the worst feeling. Watching a plant you love get killed by the thing that was supposed to help is so frustrating. Those sensors can be really hit or miss, and it sounds like yours was a definite miss. Ferns are so tricky with water, they want it damp but never soggy. Sorry about your fern, that really stinks.

Ferns usually hate wet feet, so maybe a self-watering pot isn't the best idea for them.
