PSA: the guy at the plant swap in Riverside handed me a pothos cutting and a 20 minute lecture on root rot
Last Saturday I went to a plant swap at a park in Riverside and this older guy with a wagon full of cuttings would not let me leave without a full speech. He shoved a pothos cutting in my hand and poked my soggy monstera pot with one finger, then said "this thing is drowning, you love it too much." He made me promise to wait until the top 2 inches of soil were dry before watering again, and honestly my monstera has not dropped a leaf since. Now I'm wondering if I've been overwatering everything on my shelf. How do you all figure out the right watering schedule for each plant without killing a few in the process?
Learned the same lesson with coffee, where I was basically drowning my french press and wondering why it tasted bad. Turns out most of us just do things on autopilot and never check if they're actually working. The fix is almost always the same too, stop guessing and start paying attention to the thing itself, whether it's a plant or a cup of coffee lol.
