Man, this is the same thing as people who mow their lawn super short every week and wonder why the grass looks terrible. Or the folks who scrub their cast iron pan with soap after every single use and then complain the seasoning never holds. We just love doing stuff to feel like we're helping, even when the best move is to leave things alone. My grandma had a snake plant in the same pot for like 15 years and it was huge. Sometimes doing less is the whole trick.
