Just realized I was overwatering my snake plant for 8 months straight

I watered it every week like clockwork and wondered why the leaves kept turning yellow. Turns out they only need water like every 3-4 weeks. Has anyone else killed a plant by being too nice to it?

Overwatering is the number ONE plant killer for sure. It's a TRAP thinking more water means more love.

My jade plant almost died last month from the exact same thing. I felt so bad because I thought I was being nice giving it extra water every few days. Turns out the roots were basically drowning and the leaves started getting all mushy and falling off. I had to cut away so much rot and repot it in dry soil. Now I just stick my finger in the dirt first before I even think about watering.
