I stopped watering my snake plant for 8 weeks and it grew 3 new leaves

Everyone online kept saying to water your snake plant every 2 weeks, but mine just sat there looking sad and yellow. I tried nothing for 2 months during a work trip, thinking it would die. When I got back, it had pushed out 3 big new leaves and looked better than ever. Now I water mine once every 6 to 8 weeks and it's thriving in a north-facing window in my Denver apartment. Has anyone else found that most houseplants need way less water than the typical advice says?

Right? Once I stopped babying my plants they all started taking off.

My rubber plant was getting all droopy and sad looking and I was giving it filtered water and wiping down every single leaf. Then I just flat out ignored it for like 2 weeks while I went on vacation. Came back and it had put out 3 new leaves and looked way happier. Now I basically just water it when it starts looking a little wilted and it's thriving. Sometimes you gotta let em fend for themselves a bit I guess.
