A retired teacher at the Springfield garden show corrected my fern label and I still check twice now
I was at the Springfield garden show about 4 years ago and proudly labeled my maidenhair fern as a Boston fern, which it very much was not. A retired botany teacher strolled by, pointed at the fronds, and said "honey, that's not a Boston, look at the stem." These days I bring a little hand lens and a field guide to every plant swap, and I'd love to know if anyone else has had a plant ID fix like that at a show or sale.
