Went to a bindery in Portland last week and noticed nobody uses linen thread anymore

The old guy running the place said he switched to polyester because it's cheaper and never breaks, but I miss the feel of linen between my fingers, has anyone else noticed this shift in your local shops?

Had a buddy who worked at a bookbindery in Seattle about five years back. He told me they switched to polyester thread because the linen kept snapping on their big industrial machines. Said the old owners were sad about it but the machines just couldn't handle the natural fibers. Now all their repair work uses the same cheap stuff.

Five years back I tried to fix a chair leg with super glue and ended up stuck to my own pants for an hour. So I get the struggle with the wrong materials.
