The worm press at the county fair changed my whole setup
I watched a guy at the county fair in Ohio demo a worm press for 20 minutes. He made these tiny little journals with coptic binding, no glue, no fuss. I spent the last 3 years babying a giant lying press and a stack of boards. Now I do all my small work on a $60 worm press I got off Craigslist. Faster, cleaner, and I stopped wrecking my wrists on stupid little projects. Anyone else ditch the fancy gear for something more basic once they saw it in action?
Saw a similar thing at a ren faire demo years back and went home and built my own out of scrap oak and a threaded rod. Still use it more than the big press for anything under like 8 inches. Small setups just work better for small jobs, no shame in it.
