Rant: I thought wheat paste was for grade schoolers until I tried it on a 400 page rebind
Honestly I turned my nose up at wheat paste for years because it felt like a craft project thing, not a real bookbinder tool. But I was rebinding a beat up 1890s dictionary last week and my PVA was pulling the spine too stiff, so I mixed up a little batch with 1 part flour to 4 parts water and cooked it on the stove. Ngl it gave me way more working time and the hinge actually flexed without cracking. Anyone else here use paste for full leather jobs or do you stick with PVA?
