My first flat-back spine actually stayed square

Got the corners to line up on the third try using a sewing frame I built from a 2x4 and some clamps, and the secret was wetting the boards before pressing. Does anyone else struggle with the spine shifting when the glue dries, or am I just overcomplicating my jig?

Wait, you wet the boards before pressing and it actually squared up, that sounds backwards to me, wild.
