My big commission for a wedding album went sideways last month...

I was putting the final touches on a custom guest book for a couple, using a nice goatskin leather for the cover. The plan was a simple case binding with a ribbon closure. I got the cover boards on fine, but when I went to attach the text block... the spine split right down the middle. The glue just didn't hold the signatures together like it should have. I think I rushed the drying time because of the deadline. I had to tell the couple I needed two more days, and I had to pull the whole thing apart and start the sewing over. It was a real mess. Has anyone else had a spine just give out like that on a tight schedule? What's your go-to fix when the glue fails?

Yeah @abby_palmer, it's one of those things that just gets worse the more you think about it.
