Just realized my linen thread choice was way off for edge binding

I had to pick between waxed linen and a cotton blend for a book with 400 pages. I went with the linen because it felt stronger, but it kept snapping on the final signature. Switched to the cotton blend for the next copy and it pulled through smooth in about 20 minutes less. Has anyone else had thread decide a whole project's mood? What do you use for thick sections?

Wait, you really think linen is always the better call for thick books?

Exactly, I hit the same wall with a chunky 500 pager. Linen kept breaking on me too, so I switched to a bonded nylon thread and never looked back. It's slicker and just glides through those fat signatures without fighting me.
