Endbands, hand-sewn vs. machine, I went back to hand after 14 months

I've been binding for a while and always used those pre-made machine endbands you glue on. Fast, cheap, looks fine from the outside. But I did a restoration job back in March for this old prayer book, and the endbands were hand-sewn silk. The difference was NIGHT and day. The way they flexed with the spine, the crisp turn under the headcap, even the sound when you open the cover. Sold. I switched all my new work to hand-sewn since then. It adds maybe 20 minutes per book and I charge a little more for it now. But man, my fingers hate me after a 4 book run. Worth it though. Anyone else made the jump and stuck with it, or do you still use the machine ones for most orders?
