Decided between a rounded spine and a flat back for my last rebind of an old paperback
I went with the rounded spine because I liked the look better, but the glue dried a little uneven and now the book won't sit flat on a shelf - has anyone else had that happen with a rounded back?

i mean, flat backs are way more practical for actual use though. i had a rounded spine rebind and it was a nightmare trying to stack it with other books or even just getting it to sit right on my desk. plus that uneven glue you mentioned? that's a common issue cause the curve makes it harder to get pressure even across the whole spine. flat backs just hold up better over time, especially if you read them a lot or move them around. maybe it's just me but i feel like people go for rounded spines cause they look fancy on IG but then regret it when the book acts up on the shelf.

That bit about "looking fancy on IG then regretting it" is spot on. It's the same thing with so many home decor trends - people buy stuff for the photo then deal with the headache later. Reminds me of those super trendy kitchen tools that look cool for one video but just take up space in a drawer after the novelty wears off.
