Am I the only one who prefers library binding over paperback for personal projects?

I bound my last journal using a full library binding with cloth covers instead of the usual paperback method everyone raves about, and it took me an extra 3 hours but the spine lays flat way better. Has anyone else tried this and gotten weird looks from the group?
