A client pointed out my endpapers were always too stiff

They said it made their new journal feel rigid and hard to open. I switched to a lighter weight paper for the past six months, and the difference in how the book moves is huge. Has anyone else found a good source for flexible, decorative papers that hold up?

Interesting point, but I've had the opposite experience. A lighter paper can make the whole book feel flimsy to me, like it won't last. I still look for a medium weight with a bit of tooth, something that has body but can still flex at the hinge. Gibson.Oliver's right that the feel matters, but for my work, that sturdy first impression is part of the quality.

Different take on this. A lighter paper never feels flimsy to me, it feels flexible. Like it'll move with the book instead of fighting it. Medium weight with tooth can work, but it still makes the whole thing feel heavy in my bag. I'd rather have something that bends easy at the hinge than something that feels solid but stiff. Sturdy first impression isn't worth a book that won't lay flat after a few reads.

Honestly thought heavier paper was better for durability. Seeing how much a lighter weight improves the feel really changed my mind.
