The book club I started 3 years ago barely talked about the actual book last week

We spent 45 minutes arguing about whether the main character was "unlikable" instead of the plot, lol. Has anyone else's group drifted this far from the reading part over time?

Wow, 45 minutes on that? That's wild. I can't believe you guys went that deep into an argument about a character being "unlikable" instead of just talking about what happened in the story. My group would never last that long on one topic, we get bored too fast. Honestly feels like half the time we just end up venting about our lives or complaining about the weather instead of the book. But 45 minutes is next level, I gotta say. Props for keeping the debate going that long though, lol. That's some serious dedication to a petty argument.

We argued for 20 minutes once about whether a chair being described as "brown" was actually "taupe.
