Still not sold on the hype around "The Midnight Library"...

I know this book won all those awards and everyone in my club loved it... but I just can't get on board. It took me 4 whole weeks to finish because I kept putting it down. The whole alternate lives thing felt too predictable after the first few chapters. Did anyone else feel like the message was just way too on the nose? Or am I missing something huge here?

Yeah that book was like a Hallmark movie in paperback form.

Chapter 3 alone had me rolling my eyes so hard I nearly strained something. I gotta say though @rayc38, at least a Hallmark movie doesn't drag out the same tired trope for 300 pages before the big kiss.
