Spent $45 on a fancy book light...

I bought this little clip-on book light for $45 thinking it would save my eyes during late night reading. First night using it, the battery died after 20 minutes and the clip snapped right off the cover. My book club laughed when I told them about it last week, said I should've just used a desk lamp. Has anyone else wasted money on a book gadget that totally let you down?

Bought one of those fancy page holders that looks like a little goblin hand. Worked great for about a week until the plastic snapped clean off and it just became a creepy disembodied hand sitting on my nightstand. Now it just stares at me every time I roll over in bed, like some kind of reading ghost. My cat actually swatted it off the table and now I find it under the couch every few days. Never again with the overpriced accessories.

Nope, never again with the overpriced accessories" is right. But honestly, the real question is... does your cat know it's a cursed hand now or is it just playing with a random broken toy? I feel like once something snaps off a useful object and turns into a weird decorative horror piece, you're kinda stuck with it forever because it's too weird to throw away. Did you try moving it to a drawer or closet or is it just stuck as your new creep roommate forever? Also lowkey impressed the cat cares enough to hunt it, mine would just stare at it and judge me.
