Skeptical about the 'shared reading' rule, then our group fell apart in 3 weeks
Our book club in Austin tried that thing where everyone reads a different chapter and summarizes it for the others. I thought it sounded lazy, but the organizer insisted it would speed things up. After 3 meetings, half the people hadn't read their assigned chapters and two members got into a fight over spoilers from a chapter they weren't supposed to read. Has anyone else tried this format and had it totally flop?
