Shoutout to picking hardcover over paperback for last month's club read

Our book club had to choose between the $9 paperback and the $18 hardcover for our latest pick, a dense 500 page history book. I argued for hardcover because I knew we'd be passing it around and the cheap glue on paperbacks always cracks after two people. We went with hardcover and it was the right call. Six of us have read it so far and the spine is still tight, pages aren't yellowing yet, and nobody's lost their place from a floppy cover. The only downside was hauling that brick in my bag for a week. Has anyone else had a book club pick fall apart mid discussion?

Our library copies fall apart regardless, so I usually just grab the cheapest option.

@nathan_barnes I did the same with my old paperbacks and never had issues.
