Paid $45 for a book club discussion guide and it was just chapter summaries I could get free online
I want to warn everyone in here about those fancy downloadable discussion guides that pop up when you search for book club questions. Our group picked a newer novel in January and I got impatient, so I bought a $45 PDF guide from some site that looked legit. Half of it was plot summary, and the questions were stuff like 'how did the setting make you feel.' One of our members found the same questions free on the publisher's site in about ten minutes. I asked for a refund and they pointed me to a no refunds line buried in their terms. Now we just write our own questions before each meeting, and honestly the talks are way better. Has anyone else paid for one of these guides, or is it just me?
