Overheard a librarian say 'nobody reads the last chapter' and it stuck with me
I was at the public library downtown last Tuesday picking up a hold and I heard two staffers chatting near the returns cart. One said most people skip the last chapter in longer novels because they already guessed the ending. That made me think about my own book club where we argue about endings all the time. Now I'm wondering how many of our heated debates come from people just skimming the final pages. Has anyone else noticed this in their own reading habits?
