Our book club in Denver completely fell apart over the ending of 'The Silent Patient'
We had a group of 8 people and the debate got so heated about whether the twist was brilliant or a cheap trick that two members actually stopped coming. It made me realize we need better ground rules before diving into thrillers. How do you handle major disagreements without people quitting?

Ever notice how people treat a book twist like a personal attack? It's wild. Saw the same thing when my buddies argued over a movie's ending last month. Someone ALWAYS takes it too personally. Maybe the trick is saying "I hated that part" instead of "that part was stupid." Makes it about your taste, not their bad taste.

Right, spencer_sanchez67? My book club nearly broke up last week.

My friend's D&D group almost fell apart over a character's death. One guy took it as a personal insult from the game master, like it was a bad call on his life choices. They had to take a week off just to cool down.
