My book club spent 20 minutes arguing about the color of a fictional character's curtains

We were discussing a mystery novel and someone said the curtains in chapter 3 were blue. Another member swore they were grey. I mean, we pulled out the book and read the line, 'the faded drapes,' and still couldn't agree. It got so heated we had to take a cookie break. Has your group ever gotten stuck on a detail that didn't even matter to the plot?

Sounds like the curtains won that round.

Our gardening club once spent a full half hour debating if a hosta in a magazine photo was 'Patriot' or 'Minute Man'. We had the issue right there, but it was just a background plant in an article about tomatoes. I guess when you really care about something, even the tiny stuff feels huge, right?

That line about tiny stuff feeling huge is so true. My book club once spent twenty minutes arguing over whether a character's curtains were blue for mood or just... blue. When you're deep in a hobby, those little details become the whole world for a minute. It's kind of nice to care that much about something.
