I compared reading on a tablet to physical books and one side won hands down

Last month I decided to try doing two book club picks side by side. One on my Kindle and one in a paperback. After about 50 pages on the tablet I kept getting distracted by notifications and the glare from the screen. The paperback I could curl up with on the couch and just lose myself for hours. Has anyone else found that the format really changes how you feel about a book?

Okay, wait, hang on. You did a whole 50 pages with notifications popping up? I would have chucked the thing across the room after the first buzz. Honestly, the glare alone would have done me in before page 10. I have a strict no-tablet rule for fiction now. It's just not the same as bending the spine just right and smelling that old paper smell.

Man, I feel that - I once read half a Stephen King novel sitting in a diner with the jukebox blaring and a fly buzzing around my coffee.
