Found a wild fact in 'The Mosquito' by Timothy Winegard

I was reading this book for our club's science pick. Turns out mosquitoes have killed more humans than all wars combined. Something like 52 billion people over history. Blew my mind because I never connected a tiny bug to that scale of death. Has anyone else stumbled on a stat that completely shifted how you see a topic?

Did you know mosquitos killed my buddy's uncle just from a bite that got infected?
