Found a trick for keeping debate notes organized in book club

I got tired of losing my place during heated arguments about character motives... so I started using sticky tabs to mark key pages before the meeting. Color code them by theme like red for symbolism, blue for plot holes. Took me about 15 minutes before our last session on The Great Gatsby and it saved so much flipping around. Has anyone else tried a system like this for keeping track of talking points?

Stuck a Post-it on my dog once by accident during a meeting.

Lot of people do the color tab thing but I tried something different that actually worked better for me. I wrote down the page numbers for my three biggest talking points on a sticky note and stuck it right on the cover of the book. That way when someone brings up something random I can check if I have a note for it without flipping through tabs or looking like I'm searching for an answer. The tabs always fell off or I'd forget what each color meant halfway through.
