Wasted $75 on a 'universal' boiler gasket kit that fit nothing on my old Cleaver-Brooks

Universal parts are such a gamble on old equipment. It's really frustrating when they don't live up to the name. Sorry you had to eat that cost.

Remember when we thought universal parts were a smart money move? Yeah, this kind of thing totally changed my mind.

Universal kits are a lifesaver for keeping old machines running. They bundle common sizes together so you don't have to hunt down ten different part numbers. My shop uses them on vintage units all the time, you just need to know which pieces to toss. That $75 kit probably had a couple seals that would have worked with a little trimming.
