Three weeks of chasing a leak that was right in front of me
Last month on a boiler inspection down in Gary, we spent three days patching a drum seam only to find out the real leak was a cracked handhole gasket I passed over twice. The first day I blamed the tube sheet, the second day I blamed the header, and on day three the plant manager pointed at the obvious spot with his coffee cup and said, 'You checked that?' I felt like a rookie after 22 years in this trade. Has anyone else had a leak that made them question their own eyes like that?
