Saw a stat that 40% of boiler tube failures come from scale buildup
Was reading through an old NBIC report from 2019 and found that figure, blew my mind how much downtime comes from something so simple to prevent. Any of you guys run a strict water treatment schedule or just deal with it when it happens?

Yeah that "40% from scale buildup" stat got me too. I used to think water treatment was one of those things you could half ass and be fine, but now I'm on a strict schedule with it.

The crazy part is how fast it sneaks up on you too, like you skip one month and suddenly your efficiency is shot. I'm paranoid now about keeping a log because once that scale hardens it's a nightmare to deal with.

Honestly, the "one month and you're screwed" part hits different when you realize how much crap is actually in your water. I skipped a flush cycle three months back and ended up with this flaky layer on the elements that looked like someone spilled a bag of white powder in there. Took me two full weekends of soaking and scrubbing to get it back to normal, and I'm still not sure I got it all. Now I'm the guy with a calendar alert that goes off every 14 days, and my wife just rolls her eyes when she sees me setting it up. It's ridiculous but I'd rather be annoying than deal with that mess again.
