I always figured those fancy digital angle finders were overkill for layout work. Then I had to match a 7 degree offset on a 48 inch header in a cramped plant basement.

Yeah, "getting home on time" is the real goal. I've definitely been the guy cussing at a speed square for way too long. Maybe I just like the extra challenge, idk.

My uncle's old carpentry shop had a saying painted on the wall. "The right tool just stops the cussing." That 7 degree offset is the perfect example. You fight the stupid problem for an hour with a speed square and a guess. Or you get the digital gauge and know in ten seconds. It's not about being fancy. It's about getting home on time.
