Hot take: the old guy at the hall in Gary was dead right about keeping my rod oven at 250
I ran my 7018 rods at whatever the oven dial said for 8 years and figured the 250 temp talk was just old timer noise. Then a guy named Dale at the hall in Gary had me run two test coupons side by side, one straight from the oven and one that sat out in a damp shop for a day, and the porosity on the wet rod was plain as day under the hood. Anybody else got a temp or holding time they swear by, or do most of you just run what the box says?
