Ticket to Ride vs Catan for game night, and the winner wasn't close

Pulled out Catan for our Friday group of 5 at my place in Dayton last week and half the table spent 25 minutes just waiting for a 6 to roll, so I swapped in Ticket to Ride and everyone was actually playing instead of staring at the board, has anyone else noticed how much downtime kills a game night?
