That time a game night almost ended over a missing piece in my copy of Azul
We were at my place in Austin, ready to play, and the blue star tile was just gone. I cut a quick replacement from a spare cardboard box, and we kept going. Anyone have a better fix for a lost component?

Nice save with the cardboard. But what happens when you lose a piece that's not a simple tile, like a unique card or a custom token? Do you just give up on the game forever?

My third game of Gloomhaven basically became a "let's use a random Scrabble tile for this" situation after I lost a unique modifier card, and honestly the Scrabble tile pulled its weight better than my actual strategy did.

Actually, most board game publishers have really good replacement part policies. I lost a red meeple from Carcassonne once, emailed the company, and they mailed me a whole new set for free. It's worth checking before you give up on a game. They usually just ask for a picture of your copy and the receipt.
