Question about the 1974 rulebook that said Monopoly games should end in 45 minutes
I was digging through a box of old games from my parents' attic in Lansing and found a beat up Monopoly box with the original rules sheet from 1974. The sheet says a game should take about 45 minutes and recommends calling it if nobody has won by then, which is wild since our family games growing up ran 3 hours minimum with my cousin flipping the board once. I looked it up and the rules also say players can end the game by agreement and count up cash and property, which nobody I know has ever done. It got me thinking about how much house rules have drifted from what the box actually says, and whether shorter games were the norm back then. Does anyone here actually play with a time limit or do you just let it run until someone wins?
