People keep calling our weekly game group 'nerdy' like it's a bad thing

My friend's coworker saw our setup for Twilight Imperium and said 'wow, that's a lot of nerd stuff.' It was a full table with painted ships and our custom player boards. That's not an insult, it's a hobby we put real time into. Calling it nerdy just shows they don't get the work behind a good game night. Has anyone else had to explain their game group isn't just some joke?

Honestly why do you care what some random coworker thinks. Tbh most people just say stuff like that without meaning anything by it. Getting worked up over a single comment seems like a waste of energy. Ngl it's just a board game group not a life changing event.

Used to brush off comments like that too... until a few small digs over time made me stop showing up to my own hobby group. It's not about the board game itself, it's about that tiny voice saying you don't belong. Letting it slide once is fine, but it can build up.

Honestly @phoenixgonzalez I'm with you on this one... sometimes people read way too much into offhand comments. If you let every little thing get to you, you'd never leave the house.
