My friend's kid called our game night 'boring' and it actually made me think

We were playing a big strategy game last Friday, and my friend's 8-year-old said, 'This is boring, you just look at cards and think.' I explained we were building a whole world in our heads, and she just shrugged. It hit me that maybe we've gotten so into the complex stuff we forgot the simple fun of just playing. Has anyone else had a moment that made you check your own game group's vibe?

My group got roasted for taking twenty minutes on a single turn. Kids just want to see something happen, and they're not wrong. We switched to a silly dexterity game and laughed way more.

Feel that pain, man. Some games turn into a whole committee meeting when you just want to have a good time. Kids have the right idea, sometimes you just need the game to be fun right now. Laughing beats overthinking it every single time.

Used to roll my eyes at party games. They changed my mind completely.
