My copy of Catan literally fell apart mid-game last Saturday - two sides of a hex tile just crumbled
I was hosting a 4-player game and the wheat hex split in half when I tried to place it on the board. Do you think this is a manufacturing defect or just bad luck with storage conditions? Has anyone else had their game pieces fail on them like that?

Had a buddy whose Catan board basically gave up on life during a game night. He was building a settlement and the edge piece, one of those coastal hex things, just cracked in his hand. We all heard it snap. He tried to tape it back together but it never stayed flat on the board after that. We still joke about the "cursed wood tile" whenever we play at his place. So yeah, your mileage may vary, but I've definitely seen it happen.

We had a game night where someone's dog ran through the room and sent half the board flying, tiles everywhere. The sheep hex landed in a cup of tea and was forever stained a weird brownish yellow. Every time we set up after that, we'd point to the soggy sheep hex and call it the "contaminated wool" tile.
