My buddy Dave was wrong about the expansion pack

So I have this friend Dave who swears by the Dominion Prosperity expansion... he kept saying it would ruin the game balance with too many big money cards. I finally got it last month after ignoring him for like 6 months and honestly it's way more fun than he made it sound. We played it at my place last Friday and even Dave admitted the colonies make for shorter games. Has anyone else had a friend give bad advice about a game expansion?

Did you try telling Dave sometimes expansions just take a few plays to click?

Have you tried showing him how the expansion actually changes the flow of the base game? Sometimes people need to see the new mechanics in action before they get why you bought it. I usually grab a quick two-player round just to demo the new systems, then they start seeing how everything fits. It's like learning a new knife skill in the kitchen - you gotta mess up a few times before it clicks.
